CF145 - Thanksgiving And The Fullness of Truth

On the show today…

Thanksgiving!

I had a wonderful conversation with the folks over at Baton Rouge Catholic Radio this morning. I’ve included a few clips here in the show.

Here are the recipes we discussed in the show:

  • Pepper-Stuffed Turkey for Thanksgiving
  • Creamed Spinach
  • Sweet Potato Pudding

The Fullness of Truth & The Year of Faith

I recently wrote two articles on The Year of Faith. You can find them here and here. As you probably know, Pope Benedict XVI has declared this year (October 2012 to November 2013) The Year of Faith.

This year is a great opportunity for Catholics across the world to grow in faith and to share their faith with others. And the “year” is just beginning.

How to Grow in Faith

If we are honest with ourselves, most of us want to grow in faith. Even if we are already faith-filled, we still want to grow more. Not only that, but we all have people in our lives that we would like to help to grow in faith too. The problem is we don’t always know how to do this, and we end up feeling stuck.

Feeling stuck can happen for many reasons. Here are just a few:

  • we’re too busy and just don’t know how to fit “one more thing” into our busy lives
  • we’re uncertain about which resources will really help us or our loved ones to grow in faith
  • we often feel intimidated by the very tools that are supposed to help us grow in faith: the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church

Let’s look at these reasons a bit more closely.

Obstacles to Growing in Faith

We’re Too Busy

Life is busy. And for many of us adding “one more thing” seems impossible. There’s never enough time in the day. We are always on the go. Despite our best intentions, we sometimes can’t fit in a class or a seminar or a prayer meeting.

We’re Uncertain About Resources

There are so many Catholic books on the market. It’s not an easy task to know which ones will help us to grow in faith.

We Often Feel Intimidated

The two resources that we know will absolutely help us to grow in faith – the Bible and the Catechism – are often intimidating. How to start? Where to start? Yet these two bring us back to the very source of our Catholic Faith: Jesus Christ.

Good News! Help Is Coming

We are so blessed in this Year of Faith to announce the launch of a new tool to help us grow in faith. A tool that:

  • we can use any time, and any where
  • we can be certain will help us to grow in faith
  • makes the Bible and the Catechism more approachable and more easily digestible

What is this new tool?

The Fullness of Truth: A Handbook For Understanding and Explaining The Catholic Faith Biblically

This excellent resource is now available for the Kindle (and all Kindle apps – iPhone, iPad, Android, and desktop / laptop).

From thefullnessoftruth.com…

About The Handbook

“There are not a hundred people in the world who hate the Catholic Church, but there are thousands who hate what they mistakenly believe the Catholic Church to be.” Bishop Sheen

The fruit of more than 18 years of study, this handbook is being published digitally for the Kindle and the iPhone so that we can “grow on the go.” You will have access to the full handbook from your mobile device.

Additionally, the full handbook will be available online in a searchable format, so that you can really dig deep to learn more about the Catholic Faith.

And what’s more is that The Fullness of Truth will be easily shareable. Anyone with a Kindle, an iPhone or iPad, or a computer will be able to access it.

Have a friend who is struggling with the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist? There are two chapters devoted to that very truth.

Know someone who is confused about praying to Mary and the saints? There are chapters for that too.

In fact, the book spans almost 200 pages, and in easy-to-understand language it tackles some of the biggest and most confusing aspects of our faith… always pointing back to the two great sources of the Bible and the Catechism.

The original hardbound version of this excellent Catholic resource sold for $35 a pop. The new digital version is only $4.99! And rumor has it that it might be FREE on Thanksgiving Day!

If you get a copy of this new digital tool for growing in faith, please do take a moment to rate and review it at Amazon.com. It will really help to spread the word. Ratings and reviews on Amazon.com are like free advertising. Please do take a moment to rate and review The Fullness of Truth.

Thank you!

The Fullness of Truth is now available on the Amazon Kindle. You can find it by clicking here.

Wow, can’t believe it’s been four years, as I’m sure, you were amazed!

Thanks for this beautiful resource, Jeff, the cooking, the faith — let’s be real, the communion that happens around the dinner table, and what it means to participate in the Eucharist.

Happy Thanksgiving. Many blessings for you and Char and your lovely family 🙂

Absolutely, Maria! I was searching for the right word yesterday while on the radio, but it escaped me. You are right on! What happens around the family table? Communion! And what happens around the altar at church? Communion! That’s what it is all about! Happy Thanksgiving to y’all! God bless!
