How Do You Grow in Faith During Lent? [Feedback Wanted!]
I know we just exited the Christmas Season and that we are now in Ordinary Time, but I am already starting to think about Lent.
Crazy, I know. A foodie anticipating Lent. 😉
But I’m working on a special something to help families grow in faith together during Lent, and I only have a few short weeks to get it ready.
That’s why I am writing this today. I need your help.
The Problem with Lent
Lent can be one of most beautiful times of the Church year. It’s a time when lots of Catholics take up some extra practice, all for the purpose of growing closer to God. But as I talk to people, I am starting to see that – for many – the practice of Lent can be a solitary journey.
I want to help families grow closer to God together this Lent, and you can help me.
Do you have special things that you do together as a family during Lent? Special practices? Big or small, it doesn’t matter. I would love to hear about them!
If you don’t, have you thought about doing something as a family during Lent? What ideas have you had?
Please do let me know. You can leave a comment below, or you send me an email at jeff [at] catholicfoodie.com.
Ordinary Time or Mardi Gras Season?
Tuesday (January 6) marked the official beginning of the Carnival season (or Mardi Gras season, as we say down here!). A hallmark of carnival season in New Orleans is the King Cake.
Every year during Mardi Gras season, not only do I make lots of king cakes, but I also talk about them a lot on the Catholic Foodie podcast. I tweet pictures of the kings cakes that I make, and I post those pictures on Facebook too. And every year folks contact me to ask for my King Cake recipe… and contact me again to tell me how awesome it was and how they will never get a store-bought king cake again. I guess they really like it. 😉
You can get my recipe for King Cake by clicking here: The Catholic Foodie’s King Cake Recipe. If you try it out, make sure to write me and let me know how it is!
