Intro:
This is Jeff Young, the Catholic Foodie at catholicfoodie.com, and you are listening to episode 84 of the Catholic Foodie: A Cocktail, A Cookbook, and My 3 Favorite Prayers
Welcome, folks, to the Catholic Foodie, where food meets faith. I am your host Jeff Young and we are going to talk about cocktails made with beer today. That’s right. Cocktails made with beer. Oh, and a bit about tailgating! So, if you are the kind of person who likes to tailgate, but doesn’t like beer, then stick around. I’ve got a few surprises for you!
I am also going to review the children’s cookbook that I had hoped to share with you last episode. It’s called Now You’re Cooking, and I think you are going to love it.
Finally, I’ve been challenged, folks. And by a friend! So we are going to talk about my 3 favorite prayers. Why don’t you think of yours too. But, don’t go away. We have all this and more right here at the Catholic Foodie, where food meets faith.

CF82 - Dinner, Divine Office, and Lino's Beer

Prayer before meals, great people that I met & dined with at the CNMC, the ingenious ideas of Dane Falkner (of divineoffice.org fame), and hitting the pub with Lino and friends... Plus a recipe for Abita Amber Beer Jerk Chicken and a review of the cookbook Saints at the Dinner Table. Good stuff! Feedback: 985-635-4974.

A special feast and a new beer are on the menu today, and I am very excited to share them with you! Last week Char and I had our good friends and fellow foodies, Danny & Christi Burns, over for dinner. It was more than just a meal. It was an experience. Even more, it was an experience of the JOY of God’s love. A truly remarkable dinner. In this episode I tell you why.

CF74 - Interview with Immaculee Ilibagiza
CF73 - The Divine Office
Well, today's episode is not a "lite" lunch. It's a full-course meal!
It runs a little longer than a usual episode, but it's well worth it!
I feature a great interview with the crew behind the production of the Divine Office (online, podcast, & iPhone app).
CF72 - Holy Cow!
On the menu...
We recap Grace's First Communion and the killer-kickin' party we threw after the Mass. Lots of good food! We talk about our day on the farm, and we enjoy Sarah Reinhard's "Mary in the Kitchen."
This week’s “Mary in the Kitchen” is a reflection on Sarah Reinhard’s changing relationship with her kitchen table in the early morning hours.
Bon appetit!
CF71 - Grilling Confessions
CF70 - Hot Tamales de Mayo!
On the menu today: the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, Rockin' the Rails, sushi, Cinco de Mayo, hot tamales (traditional & New Orleans style), & the illustrious Sarah Reinhard with Mary in the Kitchen. The Catholic Foodie... where food meets faith!
Please pray for all those affected by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Oh... and remember that authentic restaurant in Houston that I couldn't remember (I mean I couldn't remember the name!)? It's Ninfa's. The original. I don't like the chain. At all.
CF69 - Of Dates and Feasts
Lots of post-Easter feasting and... lots of dates recently.
Yes, dates. As in dates with my wife.
We don't often have the chance to get away together by ourselves. Christopher, Annabelle, and Grace usually stick close to us.
But this week has been different. And we tell you all about it here on episode 69 of the Catholic Foodie, where food meets faith!
CF68 - Jesus, I Trust in You!
On today's show, Char and I discuss devotion to Divine Mercy, indulgences, gardening, and we make a HUGE announcement. At least it's huge for me.
We decided to give Sarah Reinhard a break this week, since she spent the weekend packing to come down here to New Orleans! ![]()
So, there will be no Mary in the Kitchen segment this episode. But maybe we can record something special when we get together this week.
This is an intense show, y'all. Not only do we discuss sin and Divine Mercy and indulgences, but we also share a bit more deeply about our Lent experience. And the big announcement? Whoa. You gotta hear it!
CF67 - He is Risen! Alleluia!
On the menu today we talk about how wonderful Lent was for us and how great it was to celebrate Easter. [Speaking of Easter, we are still in the Octave of Easter, preparing to celebrate the Feast of Divine Mercy tomorrow. Jesus, I trust in you!]
We also talk about altar bread (the bread used in the Eucharistic celebration), and the differences between the altar bread used in the Eastern Churches and the Western (Roman Catholic) Churches.
Over the next few episodes we are going to be talking about the Liturgy of the Hours and the Rosary. I want to know your thoughts!
Do you have a favorite mystery of the Rosary? Do you have a special way of praying it? While walking? Kneeling? Driving? In church or Eucharistic adoration? Call me! 985-635-4974, or email me at catholicfoodie@gmail.com.

Here are a few of the links mentioned in the show:
CF63 - Fasting for the Feast

We are very lucky to have Char on the show again today. And many thanks to Sarah Reinhard for the awesome intro!
What's on the menu for episode 63? Well, today we fast... or, at least, we talk about fasting. And, you know, fasting makes sense only in the context of feasting. Have you ever thought of that before? I really hadn't until reading The Spirituality of Fasting by Msgr. Charles M. Murphy. Excellent book. I highly recommend it for your lenten prayer and reflection.
CF62 - Who Be Rouxbe?
