Millie’s Pie Crust

Millie’s Pie Crust

Recipe submitted by Mike Lindner.

My dear wife’s Grandma Millie gave her this recipe for a pie crust. I know everyone thinks their’s is the best, but this one really is, and it is so easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 C Flour
  • 1 C Shortening (or lard)
  • 1 t sugar
  • 1 t salt
  • 1/2 C Milk

Directions

  1. Combine dry ingredients.
  2. Mix in shortening.
  3. Mix in milk until it just comes together. Do not overmix.
  4. For easier handling, wrap in plastic wrap and put in the refigerator for an hour.

I make this in a stand mixer, which takes only a minute, then I roll it between two silicone baking sheets. No mess, no broken crust.

Yield: 2 9″ crusts (top and bottom)
