CF49 - Institute of Jesus the Priest

We are in the Year of the Priest. And I want to share some great news with you about one priest in particular... and his new Family.

Just this past week Fr. Michael Harrington, a diocesan priest of the Archdiocese of Boston, professed the vows of Poverty, Chastity, Obedience, and Fidelity to the Pope according to the statutes of the Institute of Jesus the Priest, a branch of the Pauline Family founded by Blessed James Alberione.

The Bones of St. Mary Magdalene

Bones? St. Mary Magdalene?

Yes, that's right! I had the awesome privilege of venerating the tibia of St. Mary Magdalene tonight! As a matter of fact, my whole family had that privilege.

Listen to hear more about it... and to hear about Sunday's episode of the Catholic Foodie. We are going to talk about All Saints and All Souls, relics, Purgatory and the poor souls... and a few other surprises.

Be sure to join me Sunday, November 1st at 3PM Central on Ustream.

Confirmation, Reverence, & FlashForward

Archbishop Gregory M. Aymond, Archbishop of New Orleans, conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on 78 young people in our parish Monday night. I had the pleasure, with the assistance of a number of adult leaders, of preparing these young men and women to receive the sacrament.

And I have to tell you that this was the most reverent, holy, and prayerful Confirmation liturgy I have ever attended. I was absolutely delighted to witness it.

Here is an audioboo of my thoughts concerning the liturgy... and a new TV show that has me hooked: FlashForward...
