Welcome, folks, to the Catholic Foodie, where food meets faith. I am your host Jeff Young and I am coming at you from the beach today! That’s right we are in Perdido Key, Florida... living it up. So we are going to talk beach food and Labor Day, and even a bit about the Book of Genesis! Ain’t that exciting? So, I hope you stick around.

You don’t want to miss our new aperitif segment with Sarah Vabulas - the Catholic Drinkie - She’s going to wax eloquently about Firefly Vodka. And Sarah Reinhard brings us Mary in the Kitchen and the first day of kindergarten.

Today we’re going for simple. I’m serving the salad and the entree together. And I think you’re going to love it! 7 Inspirational Quotes from Famous Foodies.

I also have a recipe for you. The recipe for Jambalaya that I promised you last week.

All this and more right here at the Catholic Foodie, where food meets faith!

The Catholic Foodie and Jambalaya = Good Eats!

Mmmmmm... Jambalaya.

Oh, I can smell it now!

I can’t tell you how many parties, family reunions, birthdays, anniversaries, funerals, weekdays, weekends, lunches, dinners (and sometimes breakfasts) have included jambalaya. I think I have eaten jambalaya just about every where one can eat it.

And everybody has their own variation on it. Some add one thing, and others something else. But we’ll talk more about that in a minute.

Are you ready for a throwdown?

OK. Here's the deal. I've got stuff to give away.

It's a jambalaya throwdown. Are you game?

What do I have for you?

Well, how about I send you a jambalaya kit from Zatarain's? In it you will find 2 boxes of Zatarain's Jambalaya Mix, an apron, chef's hat, and wooden spoon. Did I mention this is free?

So, what do you have to do?

Zatarain's Jambalaya Throwdown

I admit it.

I've never used Zatarain's Jambalaya Mix.

Now, it's not that I have anything against Zatarain's. I just like to make it up myself. Not to mention the fact that boxed and canned foods tend to have all kinds of nasty ingredients. Like MSG. And enough sodium to preserve an Egyptian mummy for another couple of thousand years.
