Beer Bloody Mary

Intro:

This is Jeff Young, the Catholic Foodie at catholicfoodie.com, and you are listening to episode 84 of the Catholic Foodie: A Cocktail, A Cookbook, and My 3 Favorite Prayers

Welcome, folks, to the Catholic Foodie, where food meets faith. I am your host Jeff Young and we are going to talk about cocktails made with beer today. That’s right. Cocktails made with beer. Oh, and a bit about tailgating! So, if you are the kind of person who likes to tailgate, but doesn’t like beer, then stick around. I’ve got a few surprises for you!

I am also going to review the children’s cookbook that I had hoped to share with you last episode. It’s called Now You’re Cooking, and I think you are going to love it.

Finally, I’ve been challenged, folks. And by a friend! So we are going to talk about my 3 favorite prayers. Why don’t you think of yours too. But, don’t go away. We have all this and more right here at the Catholic Foodie, where food meets faith.

79 Possible Cookbook Titles

The Catholic Cookbook Project

THE CATHOLIC COOKBOOK PROJECT

As you may have heard, I am writing a cookbook. Now, this is no average cookbook. It’s a Catholic cookbook. And it’s not your average Catholic cookbook either.

Believe it or not, I will follow food throughout Salvation History.

Sound strange? Different? Unique?

Good. It’s supposed to. It’s my angle. My take. My vision.

Kids Eat Like Animals!

Kids eat like animals!

Do you have trouble getting your kids to eat healthy foods?

This article by Jim Mitchem may be just what you need. [Thanks to Chris Brogan for tweeting the link!]

I remember being told at the table, from time to time, that I was not an animal, and that I shouldn't eat like an animal. Well, apparently my parents were wrong.

What do you think?

Would this work for you and your kids?

CF82 - Dinner, Divine Office, and Lino's Beer

Prayer before meals, great people that I met & dined with at the CNMC, the ingenious ideas of Dane Falkner (of divineoffice.org fame), and hitting the pub with Lino and friends... Plus a recipe for Abita Amber Beer Jerk Chicken and a review of the cookbook Saints at the Dinner Table. Good stuff! Feedback: 985-635-4974.

Boy Attacks Habaneros - But Who's the Winner?

Will Technorati Allow Me to Claim My Site?

Tagged:

Technorati is a huge directory of blogs. It's the biggest of its kind. And being listed there is a big deal.

I submitted catholicfoodie.com to Technorati months ago. After submission, Technorati needs to verify that you are the blog owner. It should be an easy process, right? Well, it's not.

I've done this before. They give you a code, which you embed in a blog post (like this one). Technorati is then supposed to scan your blog for the code. I did that. In June. It has still not recognized me as the owner of this blog.

But I am the owner. Aren't I?

CF80 - A Feast Worthy of Babette... Sort of

A special feast and a new beer are on the menu today, and I am very excited to share them with you! Last week Char and I had our good friends and fellow foodies, Danny & Christi Burns, over for dinner. It was more than just a meal. It was an experience. Even more, it was an experience of the JOY of God’s love. A truly remarkable dinner. In this episode I tell you why.

St. Martha - Patron Saint of Cooks

Too busy to pray? Too preoccupied with all YOU have to do that you miss what other people need?

Then you might want to get to know St. Martha of Bethany. You know, Martha and Mary, the sisters of Lazarus. You do remember that story, don't you? If not, you can read about it in Luke 10:38-42.

Basically, Jesus was coming to dinner. Jesus, the miracle worker. The teacher of profound practicality for the poor regarding the Kingdom of God. Jesus was something of a celebrity. And he was coming to dinner. Of course, this wasn't the only time that Jesus would visit the house of Lazarus. Jesus was a miracle worker, yes, but he was also a friend of that family.

Still, he was coming for dinner, and there was so much to be done!

Real Men Drink Tea

Real men drink tea.

That’s what the sign said. Really.

I had heard about this place, The English Tea Room in downtown Covington, LA. Char had been there a handful of times. And a good friend of mine has been there once. He loved the Shepherd’s Pie and told me that I had to try it. From what I’ve heard, the front door doesn’t see many men walk in.

But today this man went.
